Jennifer Government

Jennifer Government, by Max Berry

I'm in the middle of Jennifer Government, an equally fun read (see previous post). Set in a corporate-Americanized future, Jennifer Government, Billy NRA, and John Nike zip through a crazy world of 'capitalizm' and privatized everything. Need an ambulance? Have your AmEx ready.

Down and Out in The Magic Kingdom

Down and Out in The Magic Kingdom, by Cory Doctorow.

A rec from Wil Wheaton, btw, author of Dancing Barefoot, which I still haven't got.

But, anyway:

Down and Out is a fast, funny read, that probably speaks to the wired community a little more strongly than others -- it's kind of like Snow Crash Lite™. The future is owned by the concept of ad-hocracy, and the economy runs on reputations.

Fun, funny, and with heart.
