Connie Willis

I just got Fire Watch and Impossible Things last week, in the same batch of books with Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, and Jennifer Government. Connie Willis is a god. She is just that damn good, and these stories were no exception.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

It arrived! It arrived! All the way from across the Atlantic, it arrived!

So, I read it. Of course.

Let's see, I'm not sure what I can say and remain spoiler-free:

1. The much-ballyhooed death works.
2. Harry is becoming an adolescent, and his frustrations, especially about being kept in the dark about his past, and plans for his safety, work very well.
3. He has to face some truths about his parents -- they were just people. Horrors!
4. He and my boyfriend, Neville Longbottom, get to hang out a bit more. I've always been a big Neville fan.
5. The Ministry tries to interfere in the running of Hogwarts. *ahem* Things go downhill rapidly.
6. The kids face their OWLs this year!

Fun, fun read, and I've learned that there is a Latin edition of Philosopher's Stone. I must have it.
